Where RackHelm is heading.
RackHelm ships in numbered releases, and this page is the working plan for what comes next. It is shaped by the operators running the platform: the fastest way to move something up this page is to run RackHelm and tell us what your stack needs.
A roadmap is a heading, not a berth — the order and shape of what follows can change as we learn from the people running it.
Where 2.0.2 stands
Today RackHelm already runs the whole customer lifecycle — recurring billing and invoicing, automated provisioning, domains and SSL, a support desk with a knowledge base and a public status page, inbound webhooks that let other systems order and manage services, and migration tooling, all under your brand.
Recurring billing · automated provisioning · inbound webhooks · six registrars · game panels · support desk · white-label
Billing without borders.
The next priority is selling to anyone, anywhere, by the book — and opening the platform to the tools you already use.
REST API
A token-authenticated API over clients, products, orders, invoices and tickets, with scoped keys that follow the same permissions as your staff roles.
Affiliate portal
Commission tracking already runs in the box — this gives affiliates their own dashboard: links, conversions, earnings and payout requests.
Login Protection Rules
Throttle and temporarily ban repeated failed logins, restrict the admin area to allowlisted IP ranges, and manage a ban list with expiry times, hardening both portals against brute force.
Smarter fraud screening
A second screening provider, internal velocity rules and a manual review queue, so a borderline order is held for a human instead of bounced.
A richer client area.
The everyday surfaces your customers touch: self-serve answers, proper paperwork and more ways to pay you.
Smarter knowledge base
The knowledge base arrived in 2.0. Next comes search, and article suggestions while a customer is still typing a ticket — answers before the queue.
Quotes
Quotes as real documents: line items, PDF output and one-click acceptance that turns straight into an order.
Downloads
Versioned files gated by what a customer actually has — installers, configuration packs, resources.
Credit notes
Refunds and corrections as first-class, sequentially numbered documents that reference the invoice they amend.
More ways to pay
Direct debit and wider card-on-file coverage, so renewals collect themselves on more of the gateways you run.
A platform you can extend.
Further out, RackHelm opens up — to other developers, other languages and other kinds of hosting.
Pay & Checkout Links
Generate secure links that let customers pay any invoice or amount without logging in, plus prefilled cart links and embeddable pricing widgets that keep external sites selling from live catalogue data.
Trade Billing Terms
Give trusted business customers net 14 or 30 day terms with credit limits, dedicated billing contacts and purchase order numbers printed on documents, so invoices reach the person who actually pays.
Extensions & themes
A hook and module system so third parties can ship their own integrations, and theme overrides for the client area.
Gateway Surcharges
Apply a percentage or fixed adjustment per payment method, recovering card and PayPal fees or discounting bank transfer, shown transparently at checkout and on invoices before the customer confirms.
Billable Items
Raise ad-hoc charges for hours worked, hardware or one-off jobs against any client, billed immediately, added to their next invoice, or set to recur on a chosen cycle.
Translations
The whole interface localisable — language packs, a locale switcher and right-to-left support.
VPS provisioning
Virtualisation drivers join the catalogue, bringing VPS product lines under the same billing core as web hosting and game servers.
A client area in your pocket
A mobile-first client area built on the new API — tickets, invoices and service actions from a phone.
Automated System Backups
Schedule nightly backups of the database and uploaded files to S3-compatible storage, FTP or local disk, with retention rules and failure alerts, so recovery never depends on someone remembering.
Accounting Sync
Push invoices, payments, credits and refunds into Xero, QuickBooks or Sage automatically, mapped to the operator’s account and tax codes, so the books reconcile without monthly CSV exports and re-keying.
Help steer it.
Native drivers and features are prioritised by demand. Tell us what your stack needs — or take a demo key and see how far the platform already goes.
